PASOC II Alliance with Civil Society , is a new phase of PASOC (2004-2006) that seeks to create constructive alliances between state institutions and civil society organizations in the themes elimination of racism and discrimination, access to justice for indigenous people, and transparency and social audit.
The aim is that these alliances will contribute to the creation of legal landmarks, implementation toolkits and sustainable links between state institutions and civil society organizations in the construction of a participative democracy that is based in the confidence and initiative of the citizens.
The program will be working on a national level, however is concentrated geographically in the departments of Huehuetenango, San Marcos, Alta Verapaz, Solola and Chiquimula. The program is funded by the Danish and Norwegian cooperation, with approximately US$ 5 million. This second phase of PASOC will last until 2010.
