2007-2010:        PASOC II - Program Alliance with Civil Society

Denmark :   $ 1,252,869 million
Norway   :   $ 3,509,036 million

  • local level projects concentrated in the departments Huehuetenango, San Marcos, Alta Verapaz, Sololá and Chiquimula
  • total of 26 projects selected for support (max. $ 150.000 per project)
  • individual project duration between 12 and 24 months
  • Thematic areas: Access to Justice, Transparency and Social Audit, Racism and Discriminacion
  • Main aims:to create legal landmarks, implementation toolkits, and above all sustainable links between state institutions and civil society organizations (CSOs).
  • Methods:mapping of local context and actors; national and local seminars; establishing
    close contact to departmental development councils as means of exchange
          between local authorities and civil society representatives; inspiring alliances and
    collaboration; offering methodological support

 

 2004-2006:         PASOC I     - P rogram for the Participation of Civil Society

Norway  :  approx. $ 3.9 million
Sweden :  approx. $ 1.9 million
Denmark:  approx. $ 700,000

  • 38 projects selected for support by PASOC (max. $ 100.000 per project)
  • Thematic areas: National Reconciliation, Access to Justice, Transparency in public management
  • Main aims: Stimulate civil society contributions to construct a participatory democracy   rooted in   rooted in human rights, promote strengthening of the civil society by means of social  audit, advocacy and alliances

 

2000-2003:        PROFED-OSC -  Civil society organizations

Norway :  approx. $ 3 million
Sweden : approx. $ 1 million

  • 27 CSOs supported
  • Thematic areas: Reconciliation,Human rights, Justice
  • Main aims: Reconciliation as working topic on national and local level, build/strengthen technical and institutional capacity of civil society to create  or strengthen the dialogue with the state, contribute to reconciliation, promotion of human rights and transparency in judicial reforms

1998-2000:        PROFED - Program strengthening of the Rule of Law

  • 1997: UNDP and MINUGUA launched the Institution Strengthening Program PROFED supporting civil society organisations (CSOs)
  • promote initiatives by CSOs in the process to modernize and reform the judicial sector
